Gordon Armstrong

Gordon was appointed Chief Technical Officer at the Bernal Institute in July 2017.  Prior to this, he worked in MSSI, Stokes Labs, and Materials Ireland at Trinity College Dublin.  He has also been a Visiting Lecturer in Nanocomposites at ENSIL-ENSCI, Limoges, France annually since 2011.

Gordon has supervised researchers from undergraduate to postdoctoral level, most recently as joint supervisor on a PhD project between the universities of Limerick and Limoges.

At Bernal, Gordon is responsible for laboratory and central facilities management.  He is the Institute’s Safety Coordinator and Erasmus Coordinator.

A Chartered Scientist and Chartered Chemist, Gordon is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and has served as Chairman and Honorary Secretary of the Society of Chemical Industry’s All-Ireland and Materials Chemistry Groups respectively.
