The idea behind the programme is that, to understand social and human phenomena you must approach them from the complementary disciplines of economics and sociology. The economics part of the programme centres around how scarce resources are allocated, the issues of unemployment, inflation and economic growth, analysis of government policy and contemporary global economic issues.
