IP Law and Innovation Café

The School of Law at UL are pleased to announce the next event of the IP Law Café at the University of Limerick. Designed for practitioners, business people, academics and anyone who has to deal with IP issues on a daily basis or is just curious about the role Intellectual Property plays in the modern commercial world, the Café is a series of afternoon engagements focussed around a specific topic with input from a recognised expert in the field. It is then followed by lively discussion among all the participants providing for networking, peer learning and development in the crucial area of Intellectual Property. 
 
Intellectual Property as a tool in Public Health Promotion: Tobacco and the ‘Nudge’ factor, Dr John Lombard, University of Limerick

Dr John Lombard is a lecturer in the School of Law, University of Limerick. John is a graduate of the University of Limerick and University College Cork. He completed his LLB (Law and European Studies) at the University of Limerick in 2009, LLM in University College Cork in 2010, and PhD in University College Cork in 2014. His doctoral thesis sought to identify an appropriate legal framework for specialist palliative care in Ireland. Prior to his appointment, John worked in the School of Law and Social Justice in the University of Liverpool where he lectured in medical law and equity. He has also previously worked as a Research Assistant in the Governance, Risk and Compliance Technology Centre based in UCC. His research interests lie in the areas of medical law, bioethics, and intellectual property law.
 
Further details
The IP Law Café takes place every month during 2015/2016. All meetings are held in the Millstream Common Room at the University of Limerick at 4pm and food and refreshments are served. Admission is free but we would appreciate prior registration of interest by email to raymond.friel@ul.ie
