Film screening: A Doctor’s Sword

As part of a short series of events looking at relationships between Ireland / the EU and Japan this semester, on Wednesday the 27th February, H.E. Mari Miyoshi, the Japanese Ambassador, will introduce a documentary film, ‘A Doctor’s Sword’, about an Irish doctor’s experiences during the Pacific War. This will begin at 6pm in S205.
 
In March, to mark the 50th anniversary of the bequest by Sir Alfred Chester Beatty to the Irish nation of his collection of about 20,000 Islamic and Asian manuscripts, paintings, objects, scrolls, textiles, woodblocks and books, Ms Mary Redfern will come to UL to introduce the Japanese manuscripts and objects in the Chester Beatty Library.
 
This series is being run with support from the Teaching Board of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics.
