Dr Karol Mullaney-Dignam, University of Limerick 

Useless Extravagance? Music, Consumption and the Irish Country House 

Dr Karol Mullaney-Dignam is a Teaching Assistant in the Department of History, University of Limerick. She previously held positions at Maynooth University, including an Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her research interests range across the modern and early modern periods, encompassing aspects of social and cultural history, musicology, and historiography. Her publications include Music and dancing at Castletown, Co. Kildare, 1759-1821 (Four Courts Press, 2011), and Aspects of Irish aristocratic life: the FitzGeralds and Carton House (UCD Press, 2014) which she edited with Patrick Cosgrove and Terence Dooley.
